Friends and family are advised of the death of Ms. Eugenita Thomas, affectionately known as “Jenny.”

Jenny was born on the island of Tortola, BVI, and migrated to St. Thomas where she met and married her late husband, Clarence Thomas, better known as Bato.  Jenny was the mother to seven beautiful children: Dale “Tango” Woods, Kenneth “Selly” Thomas, Cynthia Thomas Matlack, Marcia Thomas, Troy Thomas, Wendy Smith and Abegale Woods Charleswell (who would precede her in death).

Ms. Thomas is survived by her father, Herman Christopher; son-in-law, Michael Matlack; brothers: Lawford Simmonds and Jerome Christopher; sisters: Julie Simmonds Scatliffe, Eva Simmonds Johnson, Janice McClean and Lucinda Christopher; brothers-in-law: Kelvin McClean and Kirtney Thomas; and sisters-in-law: Ceta Todman, Veronica “Rosie” Thomas, Melva and Delva Thomas and Elva Parsons.

She is also survived by grandchildren: Tasheem Woods, Akilah, Akeem, Akeema and Akeel Charleswell, Annica Charleswell-Thompson, Tanique, Shashima and Shalimah Thomas, Kenneth Thomas Jr., Summer and Kayla Matlack, Mariama Thomas and Lance Jackson Jr., Tru, Tec-Won, Theonique, Trewon and Troy Thomas Jr.,  Ly’Nai and Tae’Zion Thomas; and great-grandchildren: Shiloh Thomas, Roy Thompson Jr., Malik Dozier and Jahzarah and Jayda Jackson, De’Zaii Dumas, Ze’Naii Anderson and Jayden Charleswell.

Other survivors include aunt, Ishma Christopher; nephews: Kareem and Brian Scatliffe, Levaughn and Leslie “Elgin” Smith, Floyd Simmonds, Ronald Norman, Romel Christopher and D’Vonte White; nieces: Collean Edwards, Avril Smith-Barry, Wendy Simmonds Kelsick, Francine Simmonds-Maduro, Elaine Simmonds and Leonice Davies as well as many other relatives and friends; special family and friends: Ms. Bernice Gumbs, Franklin Jones Jr.,  Rosiley “Kunchie” Pacquette, Janet Pedro, Christy and Jerry Berry, Lynnesha Knight, Gloria Semper and Ms. Maureen Venzen.

Ms. Jenny was preceded in death by her great grandmother, Rosana Helena Turnbull Smith, her mother, Ilva Simmonds, and her sister Jenadine Simmonds.

She was a dedicated, passionate and hard-working woman. She began her career as a laundry worker I at the Knud Hansen Memorial Hospital in 1973 and would retire as a laundry manager in January 2005 from the Schneider Regional Medical Center. She was a member of the Wesley Methodist Church and had a passion for cooking and baking. She loved and was beloved by many. She was a praying woman and a generous soul.

Ms. Thomas leaves behind a legacy of love, faith and generosity. She passed away at the Schneider Regional Medical Center on Nov. 13 and was surrounded by loved ones in her last days. She will be missed dearly. May her soul rest in eternal peace.

The first viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 11, at Dan Hurley Home for Funerals and Cremation Centers located at 3192 Altona and Welgunst, St. Thomas.

Funeral services will be held at Christ Church Methodist Church in Market Square on Tuesday, Dec. 12. The second viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the service will follow at 10:30 a.m. The interment will follow at Western Cemetery No. 1.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Dan Hurley Home for Funerals and Cremation Centers of St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix.
