The Virgin Islands Department of Human Services (VIDHS) will host a Staff Appreciation Day filled with team building activities, events and an opportunity to relax and refuel for its St. Thomas and St. John employees on Friday, Aug. 12. The Human Services offices in the district of St. Thomas/St. John will be closed for regular business on this day, but all emergency services and meal deliveries will continue to operate as scheduled and will be communicated directly with clients.

The department’s offices on St. Croix will also remain open and operate at regular business hours. A similar event will take place for DHS staff on St. Croix on Thursday, Aug. 25.

In a statement, DHS Commissioner Kimberley Causey-Gomez asks the public to join her in recognizing the incredible work accomplished by DHS throughout the year, “The employees of VI Department of Human Services have served on the frontlines and have gone above and beyond every day throughout this pandemic to make sure our VI community receives daily access to critical sources.” said Causey-Gomez.

“We are looking forward to celebrating the hardworking men and women of our department for their dedicated professionalism and their service to the vulnerable populations of our territory,” she said.

The St. Thomas and St. John offices will revert back to regular business hours on Monday, Aug. 15.
