Man Charged in August Shooting in Oswald Harris Court

The V.I. Police Department on Monday arrested 46-year-old Dekumar Rogers, of Oswald Harris Court, charging him in a shooting that took place on Aug. 27 and left one man injured.

According to VIPD, Rogers was charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Rogers was arrested in connection to an Aug. 27 shooting incident in the Oswald Harris Court housing community.

Bail for Rogers was set at $25,000, which he was unable to post. He was subsequently turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.

The victim was treated at the Schneider Regional Medical Center for injuries suffered in the shooting.

The victim, whose name was not released in accordance with department policy, was transported to the hospital by ambulance for treatment.

Editor’s note: The initial police news release said, and the Source reported, that Rogers had faced several other charges, but that report turned out to be inaccurate. Rogers was charged only with unauthorized possession of a firearm as of Wednesday morning. The Source regrets the error.
