Melba Doute Charles died on May 15. She was 80 years old.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Charles; father, Emile Doute; mother, Solita Benjamin; daughter, Verna P. Charles; and sons: Enrique Edwards and Vernon Charles.
She is survived by her daughters: Melissa Sylvester and Yvette Charles; son, Dennis Charles; grandchildren: Shermar and Isabella Sylvester, Richard, Shantel, Richelle and Shanice James; great-grandchildren: Kezia, Derron, Qnyra Ja’Shaunte, Jalesia, Richard III and Sunera; sisters: Gerthrida Alecia and Aimee Doute; and nieces: Carmen, Lerryn, Inger, Feliza, Vanessa, Valdarie, Tishawn, Aaliyah and Zliayah.
She is also survived by nephews: Dennard, Immanuel and Keevan; son-in-law, Skenny Sylvester; sister-in-law, Fernella Daniel; godchildren: Tishawn, Vanessa and Jaheel; cousins and other relatives: Pauline and Florette Begraff and family, Herbert family, Doute family, Brannigan family, Williams family, Charles family, Azalia Thomas and family, Wilbekin family, and Mariel and family.
A viewing will take place at 10 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 3, at Lord God of Sabaoth Lutheran Church in Christiansted. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
