Miracle on Main Street, Lighted Boat Parade Set for Dec. 21

a past Miracle On Main Street

The St. Thomas-St. John Chamber of Commerce and the Virgin Islands Department of Tourism have announced Miracle on Main Street and the Lighted Boat Parade 2018. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday, Dec. 21. As the premier holiday event in the Downtown Historic District, the public can plan on the streets to be lighted and beautiful. Main Street construction is coming to an end until next summer, allowing St. Thomas downtown to be ready for holiday shopping, dining and entertainment.

Plan to come out and enjoy the entire day, beginning in Emancipation Garden for a local breakfast. Arts & crafts vendors will be set up so people can meander through their booths throughout the day. Entertainment will begin in the garden mid-morning, and food vendors will have a variety of lunch and dinner selections.

Downtown stores will offer many specials, so plan to come out and get your holiday shopping done while stopping in a local restaurant for lunch, dinner or refreshments. Main Street, Raadets Gade and Store Tvaer Gade will close at 3 p.m. for entertainment to begin setting up. People can expect bands to begin at 5:30 p.m. and play until 10 p.m.

The Governor’s Christmas Party for Children will be held from 5-8 p.m. in Emancipation Garden. If a child is between the ages of 2 and 10 years old, plan to come to the garden where there will be bouncy houses, arts & crafts, games, ice cream and food for kids.

The Lighted Boat Parade is scheduled to depart Crown Bay Marina at 6:30 p.m. and approach the waterfront around 7 p.m. Make sure to get a spot on the waterfront apron to view the parade. This year, the participation goal is 30 boats; it will be quite spectacular! Anyone who would like to be part of the Boat Parade or would like to be a sponsor of the parade, please call Erik Ackerson at 473-8706.
