After winning a silver medal at the Kahraman Bagatir Spring Arrows Archery Tournament in Antalya, Turkey, Nicholas D’Amour set his sights on the World Cup Stage 1 in Antalya, Turkey.

D’Amour finished in the middle of the pack of 111 archers in the male recurve division during the ranking round.  The winds at the stadium were high and swirling leading to low-ranking scores throughout the field.  Seeded 62, he faced a draw that would pit him against the current World Cup number 1 Jack Williams from the United States in the first round and the current World Archery number 1 Brady Ellison from the United States in the second round.

In the first round against Williams, D’Amour took the first two ends and was up 4-0.  The archers tied the next two ends, and D’Amour beat the World Cup number 1 by a score of 6-2.

After this victory, he faced Brady Ellison in the second round.  This time he was down 4-0, losing the first two ends by one point each end.  D’Amour battled back and tied the next two ends.  But it was not enough; he lost a close match to the World number 1, 6-2.

His new focus is on the European Grand Prix in Polvdiv, Bulgaria, starting May 3. He won a silver medal at the European Grand Prix in 2021, his first international podium.  After the European Grand Prix, he will then compete in Stage 2 in Gwangju, South Korea (May 16-22), Stage 3 Paris, France (June 20-26) and Stage 4 in Medellin, Columbia (July 18-24).
