The Virgin Islands Board of Nurse Licensure (VIBNL) has launched its new online nurse portal effective July 17. The board has started accepting 2023-2025 renewal applications for all Registered Nurses (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN).

All applicants are required to submit a completed online application via our Nurse Portal located on the new website at https://vibnl.vi.gov/. An account must be created before beginning the renewal application process.

The renewal application deadline is Dec. 1. All applicants who do not complete the RN or APRN online application by Dec. 1, 2023, will incur a late penalty of $100 in addition to their application fee. Applications that are submitted after Dec. 1, 2023, will not be processed until Jan. 3, 2024.

Be reminded that pursuant to the Nurse Practice Act §97(c) “any person practicing nursing during the time his or her license has lapsed shall be considered an illegal practitioner and shall be subject to the penalty provided for violations of this subchapter.”

If renewal applications are not submitted to VIBNL Nurse Portal by Dec. 31, 2023, the applicant will be required to pay a lapsed registration fee of $200 as well as their renewal fee.

Renewal Fees:

  • RN-$125
  • APRN-$150

During the next renewal period 2024-2025, the license will expire on the last day of the person’s birth month in 2025. As an equivalent primary source, the data is provided directly from the boards of nursing. Visit License Lookup (boardsofnursing.org) or https://www.nursys.com
