Police Investigate Armed Robbery, Attempted Robbery in Christiansted

The V.I. Police Department is investigating two attacks by armed men in downtown Christiansted that took place Thursday.

According to police, officers were dispatched by the 911 Emergency Call Center to investigate one robbery and one attempted robbery in downtown Christiansted.

At 10:30 p.m., on Church Street, two female employees of Merina’s Food Truck reported being accosted by suspects. One victim was grabbed from behind, dragged to the ground and had her valuables taken from her. The second victim had cash taken from her by another suspect who was armed.

Both suspects fled the area towards Company Street. The victims were not harmed.

At 10:50 p.m., on the Christiansted Boardwalk, two victims reported being approached by three young males. One of the males struck the female victim in the face, demanding her purse. The victim did not comply with the suspects, and after a brief struggle, the suspects fled the area after an unsuccessful attempted robbery.
