ScotiaBank Wins Third Annual Chaotic Kayak Race

Hundreds of people packed Oppenheimer Beach on Sunday afternoon, July 28, for the third annual St. John Chaotic Kayak Race. The event supported Team River Runner’s St. John program which brings wounded veterans to the island for a week of health and healing through adaptive kayak sports. A total of 32 teams squared off on the beach with the three-person ScotiaBank team, which included the bank’s regional vice president and country head Lawrence Aqui, taking the title. This year’s event included a Stand Up Paddle board race for the first time, which was won by Nat Ford. The Chaotic Kayak Race raised $30,000, with more donations expected, which will cover the cost of bringing a group of wounded veterans to St. John this November.
