Second Suspect in 2022 Shooting of Sean Joseph Arrested

The second suspect in a 2022 shooting of Sean Joseph was apprehended on an arrest warrant Friday, the V.I. Police Department reported.

On March 17, 2022, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a call at 1:17 a.m. of shots fired in the Harbor View housing community on St. Croix. Upon the officers’ arrival, they discovered an unresponsive Black male lying in the vicinity of the office in the plant bed, according to the police report.

The man received multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso and head and succumbed to his injuries. Multiple spent casings were collected during the processing of the crime scene. The male was identified as Sean Joseph, aka Akeem Williams, by his next of kin. Joseph had been released less than 24 hours earlier from the John Bell Correctional Facility before he was shot to death, the police report stated.

Video surveillance footage collected in the area assisted the investigation and led to securing an arrest warrant for 42-year-old Timothy Perez. Perez was arrested June 2, 2022, and charged with first-degree murder. Bail for Perez was set by U.S. Magistrate Judge Yolan Ross at $1,000,000 with no 10 percent bond option, the report stated.

Investigation continued into this incident and a warrant was obtained for the second shooter. On Friday, CIB Detectives executed an arrest warrant and arrested Daniel Ramos, 23, at which time he was charged with first-degree murder for his role in the shooting of Joseph, it said.

Bail for Ramos was set by U.S. Magistrate Judge Morris at $1,000,000 with no ten percent provision. He was arrested without incident and remanded to the John Bell Detention Center pending an advice of rights hearing on Monday, police said.
