Sen. Wesselhoft and Admin. Smith To Host Town Meeting on June 5

Senator at Large Carmen Wesselhoft and St. John Administrator Leona Smith will sponsor a Cruz Bay town meeting on Tuesday, June 5 at the St. John Legislature.

The meeting is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. and will focus on public safety and infrastructure issues such as roads and traffic.

“We will have updates from the Fire Department, the V.I. Police Department, the Department of Public Works and the V.I. Port Authority,” said Wesselhoft. “Residents can ask questions of the officials present and air their concerns in regard to these issues.”

The administrator and the senator at large are planning another town meeting for Coral Bay later this summer, and are considering a second town meeting in Cruz Bay to focus on other matters to include youth, seniors and health care, according to officials.

“Ms. Smith and I are working to keep residents informed and to keep the lines of communication between citizens and government open,” said Wesselhoft. “We don’t always have to agree, but we must keep talking and listening to one another.”
