Simnia Lauretta Veronica Eugene Dies at 77

Simnia Lauretta Veronica Eugene

Simnia Lauretta Veronica Eugene, also known as “Sonia,” of Estate Williams Delight died on Aug. 19. She was 77 years old.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eustace Eugene; mother, Victoria Robert; and father, Antoine Mathew.

She is survived by her sons: Curtis Eugene, Cuthbert Edward Eugene, James Eugene and Shamron Eugene; grandchildren: Morgan Sierra Eugene, Shamron Mwanye Eugene, Jah’ky Zyan Eugene, Makayla Simnia Eugene and Khamron Lovyn Eugene; sisters: Bethalina Willie (Eline), Mary De-Roses (Lytta), Fermita Meryl (Babita), Norma Frances Mathew (Frances) and Marie Jean Richard (Jean); and brothers: Michael Robert (Sonny), Clarence Mathew (Keefe) and Cyrus Randolf Augustin.

More survivors include nieces: Andrea Roberts, Nicola Mathew, Debra Mathew, Sabrina Meryl, Presline Meryl Griffith, Andrea Palmer, Liz Altifos, Mary Claire Willie, Rose Marie Willie, Linda Willie, Lucienne Willie, Lucie Willie, Elline De-Roses, Erica Cyril, Glenda Cyril, Clarencia Laurence, Aisa Augustin, Kithar Roberts, Elsa Cyril and Merlissa Nicholas; and nephews: Errold Meryl, Cliff Meryl, Lincoln Meryl, Wonder Meryl, Victor Roberts, Steven Meryl, Shaquil Donat, Daren Richard, Delroy Richard, Kerlinus Augustin, Chester Augustin, Kerlion Augustin, Lucien Willie, Steve De-Roses, Leslie De-Roses, Shorn Cyril, Kerbie Cyril, Ronald Fitz, Hugh Roberts, Ben Roberts, Bernard Lucien, Nigel Lucien and Rene Lucien.

She is also survived by her aunt, Una Meryl; uncle, Ellie Palmer; brothers-in-law: Morrison Richard and Lennox Eugene; sister-in-law, Josephine Eugene; daughters-in-law: Dyma Williams, Kiera Paul, Stephanie Eugene and Brenda Charles; godchildren: Latoya Mathew, Merlissa Nicholas, James Lyonell, Rene Eugene and Ronald Fitz;

Other survivors include special friends: Shasha Eugene and family, Sharon Prudoff, Zachary Prudoff and family, Barbara Emanuel and family, Gachette family, Williams family, Agnetha Phillip and family, Vita Samuel and family, Evette Eugene and family, Ms. Anna, Bobby, Jones family,  Mother Rose and family, Gatchette family, St. Valle family, Mr. and Mrs. Lane, Ms. Pam, Roxanne Carringhton, Danny Deterville and family, Mr. and Mrs. Deville and the Deville family, Vicky Eugene and family, Ro-ro, Mr. and Mrs. St. Rose, Ms. Virginia, Mr. Morris, Timothia Collymore (Ms. Venice and family); as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

There will be a viewing held at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 3, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and public health regulations, all attendees must wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines.
