St. Croix Woman Charged in Home Depot Credit Card Fraud

 

A St. Croix woman was arrested Tuesday on charges that she defrauded Home Depot, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Detectives with the Economic Crimes Unit initiated an investigation into fraudulent activities at the store on Oct. 12, 2021, according to the VIPD report. As a result, a warrant was obtained for the arrest of Wendy Roberts, 41, it said.

According to police, Roberts admitted to making several unauthorized transactions, then refunding the money to her VyStar Credit Union account and her Bank of St. Croix Visa credit card account while she was employed at the store.  

Detectives with the VIPD Economic Crimes Unit executed an arrest warrant on Tuesday morning and placed Roberts under arrest at Plaza Extra East without incident, police said.

Roberts is charged with fraudulent use of a credit card, obtaining money by false pretense, grand larceny, and access to a computer for fraudulent purposes, the report stated.  

Roberts was processed and booked. Bail was set at $20,000 and, unable to post bail,  Roberts was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending her advice of rights hearing, police said.
