STT Man Treated for Wound After Being Shot by Stranger

A man leaving a St. Thomas bar shortly before midnight Tuesday was shot be an unknown man and treated for his injury at the Schneider Regional Medical Center, the V.I. Police Department reported.

The victim’s name was not released in accordance with the department’s policy.

According to police, at 11:57 p.m. July 20 the 911 emergency call center dispatched officers to Rosa’s Bar in Anna’s Fancy to a report of a gunshot victim. Officers were subsequently notified that the gunshot victim was being transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center via private vehicle.

The 38-year-old male victim told police that as he was leaving the establishment, he was approached by an unknown Black male, described as slim, 6 feet tall with a white T-shirt covering his face, who drew a firearm and shot at him. The victim said he drew his own, licensed, firearm and returned fire at the suspect.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound to left shoulder, and was listed in stable condition at the hospital.
