Suspect Arrested in Hospital Ground Shooting

The V.I. Police Department on Thursday arrested 29-year-old Aubrey A. Frett and charged him in the June 26 shooting that left one man injured in the Hospital Ground area.

According to police, at about 11:27 a.m. June 26 the 911 call center received a report of a shooting victim in the Hospital Ground area. responding officers found the male victim, whose name was not released in accordance with department policy, sitting on the ground bleeding from his back. He was treated at the Schneider Regional Medical Center.

The victim told police he was walking in the area; he heard shots being fired and later felt pain in his back. He fell to the ground and was able to call 911 to report the shooting.

At about 4 p.m. Thursday officers arrested Frett pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by the Magistrate Court Judge of the United States Virgin Islands.

He was charge with first and third degree assault, unauthorized possession of a firearm, reckless endangerment, and use of firearm during crime of violence.

Bail was set at $200,000, and Frett was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending advise of rights hearing.
