In profound sorrow, we, the family, announce the passing of Sylvia M. Maduro-Dale. Regrettably, Mrs. Sylvia Dale passed away Sunday, Oct. 1. She was born and raised in Tortola, BVI, and migrated to St. Thomas, USVI, in the later years of her life, where she sadly passed away at the age of 84. She was affectionately known as “Sister Sylvia Maduro” and “Teacher Cilly,” of Baughers Bay, Tortola BVI.
Mrs. Dale was preceded in death by her late husband Mr. Clave Dale. She, however, is survived by her sisters: Lucia Chalwell of St. Thomas, USVI and Gladys Scatliffe, Varona Maduro, Cynthia Hamm and Agnes Mathavious of Tortola BVI. Her beloved brothers are Marvin Malone, Eunel Mauro, Leslie Maduro and Campbell Maduro of Tortola, BVI. She left behind brothers-in-law by the names of Raynard Ham, Algernon Mathavious and Everette Mills; and sisters-in-law by then names of Lucille Malone, Loretta Maduro, Karen CeLaire, Geraldine Maduro Inez Maduro.
Her special nieces and nephews include Arlene Chalwell, Aloma Chalwell, Luette Malone- Daniel, Kiplin Chalwell Jr. and Tayrad Brooks. Also, her special Cousin, Steve Fahie. She will be missed by her special friends of 60+ years Sister Judith George, Sister/Pastor Anna “Gracie” Joseph, and Sister Beverly Buckle. She will be dearly missed by her caretakers, family, and friends too numerous to mention. We express gratitude to the Church of God of Holiness Family- Ebenezer Home Garden Family.
Mrs. Dale’s first viewing will be held at Blyden Memorial Chapel from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Oct. 27. The funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Church of God Holiness in Anna’s Retreat, St. Thomas USVI. Church viewing will commence at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at Smith Bay Eastern Cemetery, Smith Bay Road, Smith Bay, St Thomas.
