Winthrop T. Elskoe Dies at 101

Winthrop T. Elskoe

Winthrop T. Elskoe, affectionately known as “Poopee,” died peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Sunday, Oct. 8, at the age of 101.  He was born on Feb. 15, 1922, to Philip Elskoe and Veronica Chinnery.

Winthrop T. Elskoe was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Dorothy Lockhart Elskoel; his daughter, Faye Elskoe-Liburd; and two sisters: Orpha Elskoe Niles and Eleanor Edwards Tirado.

Winthrop T. Elskoe is survived by his sister, Lenore Edwards; daughters: Karolyn Elskoe, Monica Elskoe Rabsatt, Sandyl R. Elskoe and Lori Elskoe-Rawlins; son, Glenn Elskoe; grandchildren: Lana-Marie Trotman, Allison Trotman Jr., Simona Elskoe, Glenn Elskoe Jr., Sean Elskoe Sr., Shuri Elskoe, Malayisha Rabsatt-Christopher, Halva Rabsatt III, Halima Roebuck-Valdivia, Oluwakemi Chinnery and Sekayi Rawlins; adopted grandchildren: Elizabeth Morales and Rose-Marie Maduro; and daughter-in-law, Lennice Gumbs Elskoe.

He is also survived by sons-in-law, Halva Rabsatt Jr. and E. Alex Joseph; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Abraham. Lockhart and Lydia Brignoni Lockhart; and nieces: Laverne Arnold, Linda Arnold-Casimir, Yvonne Arnold, Monica Roberts Leonard, Noel Edwards, Stephanie Cameron, Jasmine Lockhart Frett, Alaine Lockhart-Mollah, Joset Daniel, Violet Lockhart-Hodge, Ju-Ana Lockhart-Brown, Suni-Lin Lockhart and Merilyn Lockhart;

Other survivors include nephews and Alvern Tirado, Alric Tirado, Marciel Tirado, Alvin Tirado, Dale Arnold,  Edward Arnold, Wayne Arnold, Alfred H. Lockhart, Jr., Alford Lockhart, Alrid Lockhart Sr., Alson Lockhart Sr., Alvis Lockhart, Richard Lockhart, Raymond Lockhart, Lawrence Daniel and Len Daniel; adopted daughters: Sonia Morales, Trevore Monsanto, Valerie Johnson, Ritzia George, Genevieve Simon and Muriel Farrell; adopted sons: Elmo Adams, Joel Clement Gifft, Lt. Governor Tregenza A. Roach Esq., Keith Benjamin and James Francis; special friends: Elton Malone Sr., Albert George and Milton A. “Bull” Frett; as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

The viewing will be held on Monday, Oct. 23, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Celestial Chapel of Dan Hurley Home for Funerals.

A Musical Prelude at 9 a.m. will be followed at 10 a.m. by the Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at the Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral. Interment will be at Western Cemetery No. 1.
