Tyley Del Roy Smith Found and Arrested for 1st-Degree Murder

With the help of the US Marshal and other mainland law enforcement agencies, Tyley Del Roy Smith, also known as Tyler De Roy Smith, who had a warrant out for his arrest, was tracked from Iowa, working and residing in California, where the vehicle he was driving was found abandoned at a train station.

He was detained, and after agreeing to be extradited back to the territory, he was brought back to St. Croix on April 23, 2022, where he was arrested and officially charged for the death of Nancy Nieves Naar.

On June 1, 2021, in the vicinity of #35-A-14 St. John, Christiansted, the body of Nancy Nieves Naar was found beaten beyond recognition on the side of the road lying in the grass. The investigation into this gruesome homicide revealed that she was followed by Tyley Del Roy Smith, also known as Tyler De Roy Smith, who attacked and beat her until she was dead.

After receiving the verifying DNA evidence report, a warrant was sought and granted for the arrest of 32-year-old Tyley Del Roy Smith, also known as Tyler Delroy Smith, for murder in the 1st-degree, assault in the 1st-degree, and assault in the 3rd-degree by the Honorable Judge Darryl Donohue Sr., on Friday, February 18, 2022. The bail was set at $1 million.

Smith was booked, and after he was unable to post bail, he was transported to the John Bell Correctional Facility and Detention Center pending his advice of rights hearing on Monday, April 25, 2022.
