UVI Research and Technology Park Celebrates Feature on The Good Road Season Four

The UVI Research and Technology Park (RTPark) was recently featured on season four of “The Good Road,” a national documentary series highlighting global change-makers, the agency announced.

Episode 405, which focuses on St. Croix, showcases the RTPark’s commitment to innovative community development, sustainability, and fostering technological advancements in the U.S. Virgin Islands, according to the press release.

Hosts Earl Bridges and Craig Martin delve into the transformative work of the RTPark in an insightful interview with CEO Peter H. Chapman and Associate Director of Marketing and Communications Sydney Paul. The episode, titled “St. Croix, USVI – Farm Tech City”, explores the “islands among the islands of the US Virgin Islands, from food education and independence to a center for technology”, according to PBS’s website.

It highlights individuals and organizations turning vulnerabilities into strengths. The episode also features an interview with the founders of Boomerang Eats, a tech startup based on St. Croix that successfully completed the RTPark’s accelerator program, Accelerate VI, the press release stated.

“The Good Road,” a PBS-affiliated show which can be seen on Amazon Prime and YouTube among streaming platforms, tells the story of the RTPark’s innovative initiatives encompassing technology, business attraction, workforce development, and entrepreneurship, contributing significantly to the economic growth of the USVI. With a focus on change-making and community development, the RTPark is a catalyst for attracting and nurturing local STEM talent, startups, and established tech businesses, the press release stated.

Chapman expressed his gratitude, saying, “We are thrilled to be featured on “The Good Road,” a national television series showcasing the impactful work the RTPark is doing in the territory, including our Tech Village mixed-use development project which falls in line with the message of the episode—envisioning the USVI, and particularly St. Croix, as a model ecosystem for an innovative agriculture industry. Boomerang Eats, a success story from Accelerate VI, is highlighted as the first startup tech company originating from the Virgin Islands.
