VIPA Seeks to Extend PFC Collection to Fund Airport Terminal Projects

The Virgin Islands Port Authority intends to submit a new Passenger Facility Charge (PFC) Application to the Federal Aviation Administration for the Cyril E. King Airport on St. Thomas (CEKA).  VIPA currently collects $4.50 in PFCs per eligible enplaned passenger with a new estimated expiration date of July 1, 2025. The PFC collection amount remains the same in this new request. This application will ensure that VIPA maintains ongoing PFC collections to fund airport terminal capital improvement projects after the current expiration date of Jan. 1, 2021.

While the PFC will only be collected from tickets for passengers departing from CEKA, the funds collected will be used to support terminal upgrade projects at both CEKA and the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport terminals (HERA). The projects will include upgrades to the baggage handling systems and new ticketing counters in the departure and hold room areas.
