VIPD Commends Community and Police Officers for a Safe and Fun J’ouvert

J’ouvert was a safe and enjoyable event for the 2024 Festival season, the V.I. Police Department reported Thursday.

Much coordination was made to ensure adequate security was present to provide a secure
event for reveling residents and visitors. The VIPD was committed to protecting the community during this festive event, according to the press release. 

During the J’ouvert, officers responded to one physical altercation involving two men and five individuals required medical assistance due to dehydration and excessive alcohol consumption, the press release stated.

“I was pleased to see revelers enjoying themselves throughout the Jouvert without any major hiccups. We thank everyone who came out for making this a successful Jouvert and we look forward to a successful remainder of the festival season. To the officers, thank you for your tireless dedication and commitment to serving our community.”, said Chief Sean for St. Croix district.
