VIPD Leadership Meets with DOT and NHTSA Administrators

ST. THOMAS, USVI – Police Commissioner Designee Ray A. Martinez and members of his leadership team met with Shannon Purdy – Deputy Regional Administrator, US Department of Transportation and Richard Simon – Regional Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Region II regarding territorial traffic safety issues.  As the Governor’s Highway Safety Representative, the Police Commissioner Designee intends to foster relations with NHTSA Region II by developing and improving highway safety plans and initiatives critical to the territory and the growth of its highway safety system.

“I am intent on revitalizing the Territory’s Traffic Records Coordinating Committee (TRCC),” Martinez stated. “The committee is a collaboration of government agencies inclusive of private partnerships created for the purpose of bringing about a multi-agency approach to create substantial change and support to our local Office of Highway Safety,” Martinez concluded.
