Volunteers Prepare Morgan’s Mango for Rebuild

Friends turned out in force to demolish the remains of the kitchen and office at the iconic Morgan’s Mango restaurant in Cruz Bay which were heavily damaged by an April 28 fire and prepare to rebuild the “back of the house.” A “relief fund” started by friends of owners Carlos DiBlasi and Maria Ines on the gofundme internet site had raised $15,110 from 52 friends and supporters in 12 days as of Sunday, May 10, to help couple, who could not get fire insurance for the ramshackle wooden structure.

The bar and restaurant deck overlooking Cruz Bay Creek were saved from serious damage by both St. John companies of the V.I. Fire Service who quickly contained the early morning fire.
