Emoni Symone Goldman, age 30, was apprehended by the Economic Crime Unit detectives and charged with obtaining property by false pretense, reported the V.I. Police Department.
On Aug. 29, the Economic Crime Unit initiated an investigation following a report from a complainant that Goldman had rented a vehicle from their establishment and failed to pay the outstanding balance owed upon return of the vehicle. After having possession of the rental vehicle for seven days she was contacted on multiple occasions by the manager. She was advised to return the rental or pay the balance, but she did neither. On the eighth day, an individual dropped off the rental and evaded contact with the owner and or anyone from the establishment, according to the police report.
Goldman waived her rights to an attorney and provided a statement. She admitted to not paying the outstanding balance due to not having the money. Her bail was set at $20,000 and she was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending an advice of rights hearing.
