Young St. Croix Athlete Medals at Chicago Meet

LeSotho Golphin, age 9, of St. Croix won a silver medal in long jump (3.24m) as he represented the U.S. Virgin Islands at the AAU Central District Qualifier Track & Field Meet, held June 11-12 at Benedictine University in Lisle, Chicago. He competed in the 10-year-old category.

LeSotho also won a silver medal in high jump at the Speed Capital Illinois Invitational Meet on June 5 at Benedictine University, bringing his total to two silver medals in two track meets.

LeSotho is a member of the combined Hounds and Foxes Track Club of St. Croix and Chicago that won 15 medals (9 gold, 5 silver, 1 bronze) at this meet.

The Hounds and Foxes Track Club is a nonprofit organization that helps promote wellness in children through active involvement in the sport of track and field. The program encourages talents in sports, provides academic assistance and serves as a positive outlet for local youth to be engaged. The club also seeks scholastic opportunities for its student athletes to further their academic and athletic pursuits in schools, colleges, and universities. The activities of the club include athletics training, travel, competition at track meets at home and away, tutoring/homework assistance, volunteerism, and other activities.
