The Department of Sports, Parks and Recreation, The V.I. Track and Field Federation, and AAU track and field hosted the “Under The Sun, Long Jump and Sprint” Clinic. This was the first time such collaboration in track and field among these entities in the Virgin Islands. Ileta Potter, VITFF competition chairperson, was quite instrumental in making contact with AAU to bring this about.

Approximately 80 student/athletes from St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix took part and were taught by four experienced track and field professionals, including Olympic gold medalists Jason Rouser and LaMont Smith, U.S. and World-ranked long jumper Stanley Holmes, and World Championship long jump silver medalist Jason Grimes.
