Fire Service: Quick Response Contains Blaze at Crown Bay Center Spa

A quick response Monday to a fire at a spa in the Crown Bay Center on St. Thomas contained the blaze within 10 minutes, the V.I. Fire and Emergency Medical Services reported Tuesday.

Firefighters responded to a call of a fire at the Tropical Bliss Spa at 5:30 p.m. and along with the V.I. Police Department “encountered significant flames emanating from the spa’s back room upon arrival,” the report stated.

“The coordinated efforts between VIFEMS and VIPD resulted in the successful containment of the fire within 10 minutes. This response strategy was crucial in avoiding additional damage to the Crown Bay Center and ensuring public safety,” according to the fire service. No injuries were reported.

The Fire Marshal has been contacted to investigate the cause and assess the extent of the damage, the report stated.

Meanwhile, the Fire Prevention Unit is working to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a house and a shed on Saturday afternoon in Estate Solberg on St. Thomas, despite the blaze being controlled within 30 minutes of firefighting crews arriving on scene, the V.I. Fire and Emergency Medical Services said in a separate press release.

No injuries were reported in that incident, which drew on the efforts of Hotel’s Units 101 and 207, along with additional support from Echo Company’s Unit 113 and Units 205 and 209 from Tango and Lima, respectively, the fire service said. EMS Units 10, 13 and 14 also provided critical aid, it said.
