First Annual Javon J. Alfred Fun Day Special and Fun-filled

St. Johnian Kershen Bissette was awarded the first Javon J. Alfred Memorial Scholarship, a $12,500, 4-year renewable scholarship sponsored by The St. John Rotary Club. The Alfred family announced the selection of Bisette at the first annual Javon J. Alfred Memorial Fun Day. Pictured above are Javon’s parents Davidson and Deverell Alfred, Kershen Bissette, and Rotary members Lenyse Shomo, John Fuller and Bill Willegrod.

The following words were read by Javon’s sister Delrice Stevens:

To the Community,
I welcome you to the first annual Javon Jade Alfred Memorial Fun Day. Some say it takes a village to raise a child. This is so true because as a community we need to look out for our children of St. John.

Show compassion, love and administer discipline when needed. The compassion my family received after the death of my beloved brother Javon was greatly appreciated. It reminded me of why St. John is known as Love City. I am sorry it took a tragic accident to unify this community. The purpose of this fun day is to celebrate Javon’s life. Looking back on the short time Javon spent with us, he was always laughing and having fun. So, today we are going to have a fun day and enjoy youthful innocence in Javon’s memory. Also, I extend my thanks to everyone who made this day possible.

Happy Birthday Javon and Kijanne! (Kijanne is Javon’s younger sister, whose Birthday is June 3).
