GHS Head Biddle Behind “Move the School Campaign”

Letter to the Editor:

In support of the “Move the School Campaign”

Nothing would benefit public education on St. John like the proposed 10 acre land swap. The benefits to the planning of Cruz Bay are also fantastic. But most importantly the advantages created for children on St. John are simply necessary.

If this idea were efficiently overseen by our government, the results would be momentous for students and community. I support this important movement as I also work to make our very fine pre-school through 12th grade program at the Gifft Hill School available, with progressive aid and scholarships among other efforts, to as many island families as possible — and a community center as well.

If the Sprauve program is granted expanded facilities and is well supported — and given all the growth this will allow it — I hope for a time when there are two great options for high school on St. John: and that the two schools work together in revolutionary ways. We should increase options in education. For this and other reasons we must actively get behind the “Move the School Campaign.”
