UVI Offers Farming Community One-Day Training on Structural Pesticide Safety Sept. 24

University of the Virgin Islands Associate Professor Amy Dreves, Ph.D., will train members of the farming community and others on the topic of Structural Pesticide Safety and Pest Management. The Industrial, Institutional Structural and Health (IISH) training requires pre-register by Sept. 20 (Email Amy.Dreves@uvi.edu or call 692-4052).

The training will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, Sept. 24, Friday. They will be free and will take place on both campuses. The first training on St. Croix will take place at the UVI campus in NWW 103, which is just east of the Great Hall, across from the outdoor restrooms.

The Industrial, Institutional Structural and Health training is for clients who wish to use integrated practices and pesticide use in, on or around any structure and adjacent areas, private or public buildings or homes, for the protection of processed, manufactured or stored goods. Dreves will focus on identification and management of structural pests along with pesticide safety information.

The first training will take place at the St. Croix campus in NWW 103, which is just east of the Great Hall, across from the outdoor restrooms.

Amy J. Dreves, Ph.D., is an associate professor, extension specialist III of pest management, at the School of Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service, University of the Virgin Islands.
